Becoming a Wife that Pleases the Lord

Where's My Bandana?

By: Lara Velez

This morning was a very hectic beginning to my day. Rob and I had a great week end. He even took off Monday to spend more time with the girls and I. Then came this morning...

Rob wears a bandana to his day job to keep the sweat from getting into his eyes. It can get quite hot here in the Sunshine State! So, each day, I lay out his outfit and a bandana to match.

Long story short, his bandana went missing...LOL...and I am NOT a morning person by any stretch! He was extremely irritated and also not a morning person. He wanted my help. I told him to just get another one. That was not what the man wanted!

After stomping my foot and refusing to get up off of the very comfortable couch, I finally relented, and went on the bandana search!

I do not mean to get off topic here...but why is it that no one else can ever find anything in the house, and I find it in less than a minute?? Hmmm...that could be a series...LOL

OK, back to my story...

I found the bandana very quickly and brought it to him. Now, this is the part of the story where a lesson was learned...

He looked at me, and with relief in his eyes said, "Thank YOU! I really appreciate you helping me."

That's when it dawned on my...yet again...oh yeah, I am his helper.

This may seem simple to some of you and others may be thinking "he could have just gotten another one," or "how is this really helping him?"

We are called to be HELPERS to our husbands. I could have saved him 15 minutes of stress if I would have not allowed my stubborn side to rear up. If I would have just helped the man from the start.

Our job, as the Lord so lovingly keeps reminding me, is to do EVERYTHING we can to help make our HUSBAND'S life easier. Our God given purpose is to be a Help Meet to them. Help Meet comes from the Hebrew words azar (aw-zar') and ezer (ay'zer) and means; surround, protect, or aid.

Yes, I failed this morning to come to my wonderful husband's aid. However, I indeed learned a valuable lesson and I hope that you do as well.

My life is to serve the Lord and do HIS will. And, one of the callings on my life is Wife to my beloved Rob. I am to cooperate with him, serve him, side with him, go to bat for him, save him, snatch him from danger, keep him healthy, aid him, and be his Help Meet in all things.

We are ALL called to be this for our husbands. It is a position of very high honor!

Now the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a help meet suitable, adapted, complementary for him. ~ Genesis 2:18

Please pray for me as I walk this road of Becoming a Wife that Pleases the Lord!

Til Next Time,

Lara :)
